What is "blocking" and "Caller ID"? How does the app work?

Call Defender provides the simplest way to block suspicious calls. With Caller ID information provided by the global database of Whoscall and HKJunkCall, Call Defender immediately blocks or identifies a malicious or cold call when your phone rings.

Why can't I successfully block and identify calls?

There are many reasons for App blocking or identification failure, such as mobile phone number not registered on the database, App version or database not updated, or the user not authorizing the App. Should you have trouble blocking or identifying calls, please first check if any of the above causes applies.

If you still can't block or identify calls after ruling out the aforementioned causes, please email customer service and submit information that includes your phone model and the app version, and we will get back to you ASAP.

What is a "blacklist"? What is a "whitelist"?

The App features "Blacklist" for users to customize their own blocking list in two ways:

(1) Go to "Call Log" in the App and long press to select the intended number to be blocked

(2) Go to "Block" in "Settings", tap "Blacklist" and enter the number to be blocked.

For numbers you don’t want to block, please go to the "Whitelist" in "Settings" to enter the intended numbers.

What should I do if I don't want to block anyone in my contacts?

To avoid blocking numbers in your Contacts, please go to the "Block" in the App settings to tap the option "Ignore Numbers in Contacts".

How to block unknown calls?

You can go to "Block Private Number" in the App settings to block unknown calls.

How to unblock a phone number from the blacklist?

Please refer to the following:

(1) Select "Blacklist" in the app settings, and delete the number you want to unblock.

(2) Go to "Block History", long press the number you want to unblock and tap "Unblock Number".

How to block overseas calls?

Please go to "Blacklist" and enter "+(country code)*" to block all calls with the entered code. E.g., enter "+852*" to block all calls beginning with +852.

Attention: Non-applicable to Hong Kong users who have migrated abroad.

How do I remove in-app ads?

Features of the premium version include auto-update of database, “Real-time Spam Calls” data, and it is also ad-free. If you are using the premium version and still seeing ads, you can confirm your purchase status via "Verify Purchase History" in the App settings.

What features does the premium version have? How to subscribe?

Please click "Upgrade" on the homepage of the App. Currently, Call Defender provides users with monthly and annual plans. With the premium version, you can enjoy auto-update of database without opening the App. It also supports “Real-time Spam Calls” data, and no ads.

Do I need to resubscribe if I change my phone?

Call Defender Pro is billed to the user’s Google Play account. When you change your phone, just log in to the account with which you have subscribed to the premium version. If you want to confirm the subscription, please go to "Verify Purchase History" in the App settings.

How do I request a refund for auto-renewal?

Please refer to "Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play" and "Learn about refunds on Google Play".

For auto-renewal, please understand that according to Google's policies, subscriptions on Google Play renew automatically unless you unsubscribe. If you have any questions about your purchase, please check the email from Google confirming your purchase and provide the order number (GPA - XXX) to our customer service (service@call-defender.com).

What should I do if my phone number is accidentally registered on the database?

Since Call Defender uses HKJunkCall’s database, should your phone number be registered on the database, please email customer service and provide the number. We will submit it to HKJunkCall for confirmation, or you can contact HKJunkCall directly to confirm.

The processing time usually takes one week. If your phone number is still in the Spam Calls database after a week, please contact customer service or HKJunkCall again.

How to block unknown calls?

Due to iOS limitations, the App does not support blocking unknown calls on an iOS system. Instead, you can refer to the following to block unknown calls.

(1) Go to "Phone" in iOS Settings

(2) Tap "Silence Unknown Callers" and turn it on

(3) Done. Calls from unknown numbers will be silenced, sent to voicemail, and displayed on the "Recents" list.

How to unblock a phone number from the blacklist

Go to "Add to Allow List" in the app settings, and swipe left on the number you want to unblock.

How to block overseas calls?

The current iOS version does not support overseas call blocking, but you can enter the number (with country code) you want to block in the "Blacklist".
